Seymour Manufacturer Unveils Renovated Facility

Emery Winslow Scale Company, a customer of Munger Construction, recently unveiled their new manufacturing and assembly plant at 73 Cogwheel Road in Seymour, CT. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by the company’s executives, local dignitaries and key members of the project from Pat Munger Construction Company.

Emery Winslow is a leading manufacturer in various scale systems used to weigh anything from large sea animals to Boeing 747 Aircrafts. Until recently, the company maintained an assembly plant in Indiana, while having another location here in Connecticut. Fueled by a desire to house all aspects of the business in the same geographic area, the company contracted with Munger to renovate an existing building that now acts as their central manufacturing and assembly facility.

Munger’s scope of work involved a 16,400 SF renovation of the lower level of an existing structure owned by Emery Winslow. Extensive demolition was required to open up space and make room for operations. The building was then fitted out with the necessary electrical, fire and security components. Construction for this project began in the Spring of 2019 and was completed by the end of July. “Pat Munger Construction Company was honored to assist Emery Winslow in transitioning the entirety of their business to the state of Connecticut”, said David DeMaio, Munger President.

The relocation is a welcoming sign, indicating that the manufacturing industry is still thriving in the state of Connecticut. “Manufacturing is still alive and well here in our state,” said Bill Purcell, president and CEO of the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce. “We have 4,500 manufacturing companies across the state, employing 160,000 people. They contribute mightily to the $15-plus-billion of our state’s exports around the world.”
