Drip Strip Prevents dirt and mulch from being splashed up on the building sill
December 15, 2014
- Building exterior drip strips prevent premature rotting and rusting.
A drip strip is a strip of clean, crushed or decorative stone, placed against the building foundation and projecting out from the foundation 24″-36″. The purpose of a drip strip is to absorb rainwater from the sky and gutter overflow, thus preventing dirt and mulch from being splashed up on the building sill material. This helps prevent premature rotting of wood siding and rusting of metal siding panels. Good design dictates 6″-8″ of space between the bottom of the siding and the finish grade. Drip strips are easily incorporated into landscape designs. Munger Construction can offer a free evaluation of your building to determine if drip strips would be of value to you, and then arrange for professional installation.
