Project Overview
Munger Construction recently partnered with The Lee Company, a long-term customer, to complete a major retrofit of an outdated building in Westbrook, CT. The project was designed to accommodate the relocation of one of the company’s divisions. The Lee Company once again turned to Munger Construction as their trusted construction partner for this comprehensive building transformation.
Challenges & Solutions
Due to the condition and purpose of the building, a complete interior demolition was necessary before the fit-out could begin. The Munger team efficiently managed this extensive demolition, followed by the construction of new partitions for a large office area at the front of the building, and the installation of new carpeting throughout.
Two large mezzanines were added to house the extensive mechanical equipment required for the manufacturing process. Additionally, a Uni-Strut grid system was installed to support the mechanical piping, ensuring operational efficiency. The manufacturing area was enhanced with epoxy flooring, while a new loading dock area was created to streamline deliveries and shipments.
Exterior Work & Enhancements
To increase the building’s performance and longevity, Munger Construction replaced the deteriorating roof with a Varco Pruden Standing Seam Roof. Large sections of the aging siding were also replaced and repainted to restore the building’s exterior appearance. In keeping with the architecture of the surrounding Lee Company buildings, a new entry vestibule was included in the design.
Results
Munger Construction successfully completed this large-scale project, delivering a revitalized facility that meets The Lee Company’s operational needs. The Lee Company continues to rely on Munger Construction as their “go-to” construction partner for projects that demand high-quality craftsmanship and a seamless execution process.
This project showcases Munger Construction’s commitment to providing innovative solutions and enduring partnerships with clients like The Lee Company, who trust us to bring their vision to life.
