The Lee Company, Building 82 Solar- Sustainable Commercial Building Options
November 13, 2015
Project Overview
In 2013, Pat Munger Construction Company, Inc. successfully completed the construction of Building 82 for The Lee Company, located in Westbrook, CT. This 88,450 square foot facility, built for their IMH Group, provided expanded manufacturing space for microhydraulics components and additional office areas. The building design incorporated clerestories, which provided an ideal future site for a photovoltaic (PV) solar system, aligning with the company’s sustainable energy goals.
In 2015, Munger Construction embraced the opportunity to enhance The Lee Company’s sustainable initiatives by offering a sustainable building solution in the form of a roof-mounted PV solar system.
[smartslider3 slider=24]Solution
Munger Construction partnered with Independence Solar to design and install a 324 kW, roof-mounted PV solar system on Building 82. By leveraging Munger’s extensive experience in layout and installation, combined with Independence Solar’s expert management and design services, the team successfully integrated the system into the building.
Results
The completed PV solar system provided The Lee Company with a sustainable energy source that has significantly reduced operating costs while improving overall energy efficiency. This project not only delivered environmental benefits but also supported The Lee Company’s commitment to innovative, green solutions.
Long-Term Relationship
Munger Construction values the strong partnership developed with The Lee Company over the years and is proud to contribute to their vision of sustainability. By providing renewable energy options for the buildings we construct, Munger continues to support the growth and operational efficiency of forward-thinking businesses like The Lee Company.
