Munger Construction completed extensive building renovation projects for Bergantino’s Agway of Connecticut at its former North Haven, North Branford, Middlefield, and Bethel locations. This featured project focused on expanding the retail space at the former Agway store at 74 South Street in Bethel.

The Situation
Bergantino’s Agway needed additional space to support its retail operations at the Bethel location. An unfinished warehouse area presented an opportunity to expand the store’s functional sales and display space.
Problem

The existing warehouse space was unfinished and uninsulated.

It lacked suitable equipment access, heating, lighting and finished flooring.

The existing mezzanine and sprinkler system also presented challenges when planning an efficient layout for truck unloading, product storage and retail displays.
Solution
The Resolutions

Munger Construction removed the existing mezzanine, insulated the space and installed drywall. New overhead doors and a dedicated forklift-access door improved material movement.

The team constructed a concrete ramp and protected alleyway to support safe and efficient truck unloading. The existing asphalt floor was retained, while the subfloor was patched and finished with new vinyl composition tile.

Munger also extended the heating system and installed acoustical ceiling tiles, lighting, shelving and modular display units to create a functional retail environment.
Outcome

The completed renovation transformed an unfinished warehouse area into comfortable and functional expansion space for the Bethel store. The improvements supported product displays, customer circulation, material handling and day-to-day retail operations.
