Sustainable Commercial Building Options
Munger enables customers to own high-performance buildings that are efficient in the use of energy, resources, materials and space while also minimizing their negative environmental impact.
Energy Efficient Commercial Building Solutions
We demonstrate to our customers and communities that sustainability has social, environmental and financial benefits. Our Corporate Office rooftop PV Solar system generates enough energy to offset the electricity used by approximately 2 homes a year. We installed occupancy sensors for lighting, upgraded to efficient lighting systems and implemented a company recycling program. We continually enhance our LEED certifications and skills for assessing, designing and delivering sustainable solutions to our customers. This includes sourcing non-toxic materials, implementing energy efficient construction processes, and reducing our carbon footprint.
Solar Energy for Commercial Building Solutions
Munger Construction’s sustainable energy consultant advises clients regarding energy efficiency programs, financial justification, system design, installation and integration with existing building infrastructure. The Munger team provides a total solution for our customers. We ensure that the roofing infrastructure is suitable for supporting the solar system.
Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Electric System Installation
Operating silently and without environmental emissions, PV solar systems consist of an arrangement of several components, including solar panels to absorb and directly convert sunlight into electricity, a solar inverter to change the electrical current from DC to AC, as well as mounting, cabling and other electrical accessories to set-up a working system.

Solar Thermal System Installation
Solar thermal collectors (panels) absorb solar energy. Fluid circulated through the collectors by a low-energy pump delivers heat to a water storage tank. When users need hot water, the solar-heated water in the tank pre-feeds the primary water-heating system so that the boiler or water heater is activated for less time than if there were no solar system.
Geothermal HVAC System Installation
A geothermal HVAC system is a central heating and/or cooling system that transfers heat to or from the ground. It uses the earth as a heat source (in the winter) or a heat sink (in the summer). This design takes advantage of the moderate temperatures in the ground to boost efficiency and reduce the operational costs of heating and cooling systems.

“Munger completed the installation of a large scale rooftop PV solar system capable of generating over 91,000 kilowatt hours annually. This rooftop solar array demonstrates our company’s commitment to going green as evidenced not only in the high efficiency water heating products we build, but also in the continued reduction of our own carbon footprint”
William Newbauer, Jr., President, Hubbell Electric Heater Company
“Munger completed a 20,000 sq. ft. addition to our state of the art manufacturing facility and distribution center that complements a 23,600 sq. ft. addition constructed by Munger. Munger also introduced the benefits from investing in a PV Solar system without the need for roof reinforcement or renovation. So, we invested in a system designed to satisfy 51% of our power needs. Our second major addition along with a PV solar system proves Munger’s ability to serve our evolving needs.”
Stephen Burt, Owner, Burt Process Equipment
“Munger made a strong impression by applying its building and roofing expertise to recommend the right solar thermal hot water solution for each rooftop. They get it right the first time. Being customer focused with proactive suggestions, quality workmanship and being available when needed is an unusual combination for a contractor”
Mark Vere, Director of Facility Support Services Gaylord Specialty Healthcare
“As general contractor, Munger was responsible for the entire 6-month project including design/build services for our new retail area and office space along with the HVAC system, which is the largest commercial geothermal application in the area. Munger did a tremendous job working with us to design the HVAC solution and select the best products and sub-contractors. Munger is a very professional organization that is easy to work with, and very thorough from proposal through occupancy. Their proposals, contracts and guidelines are well documented. They deliver the finished product on time. They adhere to their quoted price. They complete follow-ups, repairs and upgrades in a timely manner. They maintain a very clean worksite.”
