Case Study
The Situation
Pat Munger Construction Company, located at 750 East Main Street, Branford, CT, sought to enhance our sustainability efforts by reducing electricity costs and our carbon footprint. We wanted to implement a renewable energy solution that would significantly offset the energy consumption at our own facility.
Problem
The Challenges
1
We wanted to design and install a solar energy system that could cover a substantial portion of the facility’s electricity needs.
2
We aimed to leverage grants from Connecticut Clean Energy Fund’s On-Site Renewable Distributed Generation Program to support the project. The challenge was to create a system that was both efficient and capable of generating the desired level of electricity while seamlessly integrating with the existing infrastructure.
Solution
The Resolutions
1
In collaboration with Spire Solar, we designed and installed a 12.6-kilowatt, 70-panel photovoltaic (PV) solar system at our facility.
2
The installation, supported by grants from the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund, was customized to meet the facility's energy needs and reduce its reliance on external power sources. This system was engineered to generate between 50%-70% of the electricity required for our daily operations.
Outcome
the final product
The PV solar panel system now generates a significant portion of our facility’s electricity—50%-70% of our total needs. This investment not only reduces our energy costs but also aligns with our commitment to sustainability and clean energy. This successful project highlights Pat Munger Construction Company’s dedication to implementing environmentally responsible solutions both for ourselves and our clients.
