The University of New Haven selected Pat Munger Construction Company, Inc. to build the new 30,000-square-foot Peterson Performance Center located on the University of New Haven’s North Campus in West Haven, CT.

Construction began in early August and is projected to complete in the fall of 2022. When the Peterson Performance Center is completed, it will boast a 7,000-square-foot sports performance center with a complete weight room that includes 20 Olympic weight lifting racks and a 60-yard turf field. The building will also house a 1,500-square-foot sports medicine center, a 2,500-square-foot football locker room, along with additional meeting rooms and free spaces for student-athlete use.

“It is our goal for the University of New Haven to have an excellent customer experience and for this facility to bring growth to UNH’s already booming Athletic Department,” said David DeMaio, Munger president. “We will ensure this through continuous job supervision, fair, honest, and open job costing, and the desire to satisfy all of their concerns.”

Dave Peterson, a 1988 University of New Haven graduate, former football standout, and member of the University’s Board of Governors, made a leadership gift to support the development of the facility. “My experiences as a student-athlete taught me skills that I have used throughout my career,” said Peterson. “I am excited to help enrich the experience of future generations of student-athletes and to provide a space for them to prepare to excel on and off the field. Creating this facility is an important step in our goal to move to Division I, and I expect this will be the first of many new projects and enhancements that will take place on the North Campus.”
