Pat Munger Construction Company, Inc. is proud to announce it has been named the #1 Top Family-Owned Business in the 51–200 full-time employee category at the 2025 Top Family Business Awards, presented by the Hartford Business Journal.
The announcement was made during a celebration at Farmington Gardens on Thursday, June 12, where family businesses from across the state came together to recognize legacy, leadership, and long-term impact. Munger Construction was honored for its multigenerational workforce, commitment to excellence, and its continued role in shaping Connecticut’s commercial landscape.

Founded in 1968 by Phillip “Pat” Munger, the company has grown from a shell-only contractor into one of Connecticut’s most respected full-service design-build general contractors. Today, the company is led by David A. DeMaio, along with Pamela DeMaio (Vice President) and their son James DeMaio (Vice President of Business Operations).
What truly sets Munger apart is the people who make up its in-house team. Currently, 23 of the total 85 employees represent 9 multigenerational families, contributing a combined 325 years of service to the company. This depth of experience and unity reinforces Munger’s reputation for quality, consistency, and long-term client relationships.
In addition to its core services, Munger Construction owns and operates Industrial Building Systems (IBS), a pre-engineered metal building subcontractor supporting projects throughout Connecticut and the Northeast.
