Stelray Plastics Celebrates 50 Years of Excellence

On December 9th, Stelray Plastic Products marked its 50th Anniversary with a celebratory event at its headquarters in Ansonia, Connecticut. The milestone was a testament not only to Stelray’s perseverance and innovation but also to the strong partnerships that have supported its growth over the years. Pat Munger Construction Company proudly built Stelray’s recent 5,000-square-foot addition and was honored to be part of the festivities.

David DeMaio, president, and Karen DelVecchio, business development manager, represented Munger Construction at the celebration. The event brought together Stelray’s leadership, loyal employees, valued customers, and key supporters, including state and local officials. President Larry Saffran delivered a moving address, reflecting on the company’s remarkable journey from its rebirth in 1974 to becoming a leader in contract injection molding.

The new addition, completed in May 2023, played a prominent role in the celebration. Tours showcased the expanded molding facility to accommodate Stelray’s continued growth and commitment to quality. Munger Construction is proud to have partnered with Stelray to make this vision a reality and to support their mission to stay at the forefront of manufacturing.

The celebration also underscored Stelray’s longstanding contributions to the local community and the manufacturing industry. The City of Ansonia, represented by Mayor Dave Cassetti, joined in recognizing Stelray’s achievements and resilience. Connecticut’s Chief Manufacturing Officer, Paul Lavoie, applauded the company’s success as an example of how Connecticut manufacturers continue to thrive.

Stelray Honored by Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce

Just a few days after the anniversary event, on Friday the 13th, Stelray Plastics received the prestigious Milestone Award from the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce. Karen DelVecchio, representing Munger Construction, had the privilege of presenting the award to Stelray during the Chamber’s annual holiday breakfast.

In her remarks, Karen shared the story of Stelray’s resilience, tracing its roots back to the devastating fire of 1974 that leveled their original Shelton facility. From those ashes, Stelray was reborn under the leadership of Mort Saffran, and the company has grown into a 42,000-square-foot, world-class manufacturing facility that operates three shifts and ships over 28 million parts annually.

Munger Construction has been fortunate to witness Stelray’s remarkable journey firsthand, culminating in the successful completion of their latest facility expansion. This partnership reflects Munger’s commitment to supporting businesses like Stelray as they grow, evolve, and celebrate milestones that matter.
