Doncasters – New Construction

Project Overview
Munger Construction partnered with Doncasters to build a 19,750 SF addition to the Doncasters Precision Casting facility in Groton, CT. The project includes a 140’ x 130’ pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) with a 40’ x 140’ mezzanine, aimed at doubling the facility’s manufacturing capacity to meet increased aerospace industry demand.

Challenge
With passenger flying hours rebounding to or exceeding pre-pandemic levels, demand for aircraft parts outpaced the manufacturing capacity. Doncasters needed to expand quickly to meet orders for commercial airlines, reduce lead times, improve operational flow, and ensure safety.

Solution
Munger Construction designed and began constructing an extensive addition with optimized space for de-waxing processes, a new mezzanine, and improved parts flow. The facility layout was adjusted to reduce environmental impact and allow for streamlined production.

Result
The expanded facility is projected to double Doncasters Precision Casting’s production capacity by 2025. This development supports future technological advancements and local job growth in Connecticut, positioning Doncasters to deliver consistent service to OEMs in the aerospace sector.
